This article brings up a very real ability we all have!
This article points out that at the University of Michigan, the students themselves are redeveloping education. It asks a very real question: Can college students reinvent education and the educational system?
Why of course they can!
Of course all of us can!
What is education really? It’s the knowledge that we as a people want to pass on so that the atrocities don’t happen again, and the good continues to happen.
This brings up a very important point: We as a people have decided that only certain people can reform our standards of living: Education, business, business models, stock market, the economy, education and even the social fabric of our culture. Where did we get this crazy idea?
Was there some point in our existence or education that someone said we weren’t allowed to change things? Was it all the “no’s” we received as a child? Was it the “no, you’re not old enough to understand why that’s not a good idea” comments we received as a teen and young adult? Was it our ideas that were torn down by someone we looked up to? Was it the realization that the government will never change? What was it that told us we have to just be OK with what is decided for us? I’m not sure….but let’s throw that garbage away!
Yes, we, the average person who wants the world to be a better less violent place, can reform all of those things.
You! I’m talking to you….the person reading this right now. Listen up!
You can change the world!
If you think the world is too violent, start coming up with solutions and tell everyone about it!
If you think we need a better education system – work towards changing it.
If you think our climate needs to be corrected – 350.org and change it.
If you see something wrong…change it
We can change the social fabric of our world.
We aren’t the first group of people to do this. Every country, every city, every organization and business, every rule, every law was created by people who decided that there was a better way. Our own country was created because we wanted to change the way things are, the way things “always have been”. How did we suddenly start talking in ways that are against the ideals that created our country?
No, it’s been done before, let’s do it again!! Let’s change these things for the better.
